How To Store Dehydrated Food

Once you have preserved your fresh produce it helps to follow these tips on how to store your dehydrated food.

Quick Tip! – Remember you can use the shelves that come with your Sunkeep Solar Food Dehydrator as storage racks to proudly display your bounty when you have finished dehydrating for a while.

Once your food is dried and cool it is ready for the conditioning step before final storage. This process evenly distributes any remaining moisture. To do this pack the dehydrated food loosely in your storage container and shake it around once a day for a week. If any condensation appears, further dehydrating is necessary.

Final storage should be in airtight containers (preferably glass), freezer bags that you have squeezed the air out of, or you can use a vacuum sealer.

Keep your dehydrated food in a cool and dark place.  Dried fruits and herbs can be stored for up to a year. Dried vegetables and meats can be stored for up to six months. Discard any food that shows signs of mold.
